About Maria Lonnemann, MA, LMHC

Hi! I am originally from Ohio, but have always considered Florida to be a second home to me due to different family members living in the state and traveling to Clearwater Beach for vacation (the only place we ever went!). As I got older I decided to move to the area for graduate school and have been here ever since. In my free time, I enjoy spending time being active outdoors, traveling, baking, exploring new places and spending time with my family, friends and dog.

Why I became a Counselor?

From a very young age I’ve always known that I wanted to do something that helped other people. I found that I was very empathetic by nature and was always that friend that people would come to when they wanted to talk. There is something about connecting with others in a purposeful and meaningful way that makes me enjoy my job so much.

Education, Experience, and Approach

I am Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of South Florida. I have experience working with individuals across the life span with a number of disorders in different settings. Prior to working in private practice I engaged in providing Telehealth services to those across the state experience depression, anxiety, ADHD, self esteem issues, difficult life transitions as well as providing life coaching. I have experience providing trauma and family counseling in group homes, private homes and schools. I also have experience working in intensive outpatient settings treating those with OCD.
I offer a person centered and collaborative approach. Whatever your concern may be, let me meet you where you are at. I really do believe that you are the best expert at your own life. Let’s work together to heal past wounds, gain understanding or focus on a future that you can be excited about!
